Villa Aphrodite:

Outstanding!!

Review Submitted: Feb 11, 2016 Date of Stay: Aug 2015

We stayed at Villa Aphrodite at the end of August - beginning of September. A great location for the peace and quiet needed for a relaxing holiday but only a short drive to the beach. The 5 minute morning walk to the village bakery for fresh bread was a great way to get the day started and the village offered a couple of restaurants, bars and shops which had everything that you could need. The villa was spacious, very clean and had a great layout. Breakfast, lunch or dinner on the balcony with views over the village and valley. We would absolutely visit again If I was not set on seeing the rest of the world!

Have stayed in these villas already 3 times, and wish i had an excuse to go back more often! Each time was with a group of friends from around the world - and the consistent reactions have been totally positive. Great big spaces, amazing views, nice pools, a perfect set-up for a family or group holiday. The little village of Gavalohori is also a gem, a really special place. Christos is a responsive manager, who is on top of every request - and the on-the-spot care of Frosso is perfect. Highly recommend any of these villas - for any reason ;)

Super Extra Great

Review Submitted: 13 February 2009 Date of Stay: July 2008

Hi,
I had a 10 days stay with kid and wife in July 2008.
We had an great vacation at this Villa.  Everything was just great.
For example, when we arrived at 22h30 at the villa, a staff was waiting us with great food softs and wine...
If you are waiting from your holidays a certain "niveau" you will found it there.
The place in itself is super located at the top of a small village, the people who manage the villa are so kind and friendly.
The village is a real typical Cretan village.
No noise, unbelievable view with the mountains in back, super pool, great food (you can order).
What can I say more ....

Villa Aphrodite:

Grozügiges Haus mit allen Annehmlichkeiten.

Review Submitted: 18 September 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010

Die Beschreibung ist exakt zutreffend.
Das Highlight: die Terasse mit Panoramablick zum Einnehmen der Mahlzeiten.
Technisch fast schon überausgestattet: PS2(Spiele mitnehmen!), benutzbarer Computer, W-Lan,

The Villa Ariadne experience

Review Submitted: 18 October 2012 Date of Stay: October 2012

We had a wonderful stay at Villa Ariadne, set in the hills of Gavalochori. The villa is beautifully designed, lots of space with wonderful views of the mountains, hills and valley. With Almyrida beach and friendly restaurants so close it was a perfect combination.
October weather was fabulous with beautifully hot days and nights (other than 1 stormy day). Owner/manager Christos could not have been nicer and Froso is great to deal with. This villa Ariadne experience is highly recommended.

Super luxurious villa in friendly village

Excellent villa in every respect with great service. We spent most of our time in the pool even though the nearby organized beach of Almirida is great. Barbecued every day on the terrace which offers breathtaking view of the village and the White Mountains. Walked to different shops for the essentials. Highly recommended.

Villa Artemis:

Amazing Villa

Review Submitted: 24 September 2010 Date of Stay: September 2010

This is the best villa we have ever stayed in and we have stayed in many..We have been back 2 days and we are missing the villa and local area so much.. The villa is very luxurious, spacious and impressive.. The pools are immaculate and the outside area is clean and well maintained. The daily maid service was fantasitc and she is such a lovely lady.. very friendly and was great with the kids! We have 2 young daughters ( 5 and 2 years) who loved this villa and the smaller pool with the baby area meant we could relax knowing our 2 year old could paddle and swim about safely.
Gavalohori is beautiful but we didnt spend much time there as we loved Almirida where we went for meals and shopping. We didnt really have to go into Kalives at all. The view and countryside is amazing and sitting on the lounge balcony overlooking the valley is a memory I will never forget. You will need a car for this villa even thought the village is near.
I highly recommend this villa.. we will be definately going back! My only one slight fault was that the railings on the balcony were widely spaced apart and we had to keep an extra vigilant eye for out toddler but this is a small criritsm for such a great place!

Villa Artemis:

Perfect luxury getaway with breathtaking views!

Review Submitted: 25 September 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009

Hi, we stayed at villa Artemis in Setember 2009, it was fairly easy to find, location is perfect: views of the village below and mountains far ahead are simply breathtaking. Villa exceeded all our expectations, it has all modern cons listed in description, including satellite TV and PC with internet access. Pool area is nice and clean, plenty of towels were provided. Villa can be cleaned daily with the towel and sheet change, but we opted for a less frequent service. The nearby village shop has basic choice of food and toiletries, but we usually went to nearby Kalives (7 km) for our groceries, and to the butcher shop to get meat for our barbeques, which we had almost every day. Local taverna in Gavalochori serves very nice local food and has takeaway option(down the hill from the villa to the main square, take first left and 50 meters further on the right hand side) Nearest sandy beach is Almyrida (3 km), which is less than 10 minutes drive from the villa. So you definitely need a car to get around. Customer service from the owner and the lady who manages the villa is excellent. Special thanks from all of us to Christos and Froso, who made us feel very welcome throughout our stay and made this trip unforgettable. This villa is highly recommended by us:) We will definitely come back here again one day!

Villa Artemis was, without doubt, the most luxurious villa we have ever stayed in. The interior was well planned and very comfortable and spacious. Outside the two lovely pools had fantastic views of the village and mountains. The setting was perfect, quiet and rural but only a short walk to the village which had friendly tavernas and little shops. We were very sad to leave!!

Super Villa for a relaxed holiday!

Review Submitted: 07 June 2010 Date of Stay: May 2010

We stayed with 5 friends in this villa from 30/5 tilll 6/6 2010 and we had a great time. The villa is even more stunning in real life with comfort and luxury on the in - and outside. The housekeeping from Froso was excellent and effecient. Any help you need is in good hands with her. The view is breathtaking and seems to change every minute as the sun and clouds paint a different picture endlessly. The pool is big, clean and very inviting. The rooms have very good beds and the yacuzzi is wonderful.
We enjoyed many meals outside on the veranda and the gas BBQ works great. Walking down the hill every morning to the bakery is a pleasure and the beach with good seaside dining is nearby. The bigger town of Chania is just half an hour drive away and offers quality shops, but be aware of the siesta opening hours.
We are very excited about this villa and have plans on staying here again. Thank you Froso and Christos for your service and kindness!

Villa Athina:

Beautiful spacious Villa with special layout

Review Submitted: 27 May 2012 Date of Stay: May 2012

Me, my husband, two boys 8 & 11 and my mother just spent a week in this beautiful villa in Gavalochori. The villa is very spacious and has every comfort you were promised on the description. The large pool with its view is just spectacular and well cared for. Although there is no view towards the ocean you have this great view towards Psiloritis (the highest mountain in Crete). The villa lies on top of the village of Gavalochori which has 2 small Mini-Supermarkets, 3 Tavernas and even a bakery nearby. The food in these local restaurants is great and affordable. The people of Gavalochori are very friendly and helpful.
Speaking of helpful, Froso, the lady taking care of the residents of the Apokron Villas is such a nice person. She is always reachable when you need her. The closest beach is about 10 minutes by car in Almyrida. The beach is not that big but it’s cozy and clean. There are several restaurants in Almyrida as well. As Gavalochori is out in the country you will definitively need a car to get around. Also I would recommend flying in and out of Chania as Heraklion is a 1 hour 45 minutes’ drive from the villa. Overall we had a great vacation and we can definitively recommend it.
I recommend also visiting the unique glass fabrication (www.artofliving.gr) in Kokkino Chorio (20’ drive) and the greek-roman site in Aptera (30’).

Review Submitted: 10 June 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009

We rented this excellent villa for a week and had a superb time.
We where greeted by the nice lady Froso, who showed us the house etc.
She came by every day to clean and make sure all was in prestine condition.
The villa seemed brand new and the terrasse and pool where perfect for us and the children.
Overall the villa and service was all we could hope for and we are already planning to go back next year.
